From rain and wind to calm sunny conditions, we experienced the full range of scottish summer as well as a variety of surf conditions over the 4 days of our first Surf 'n' Fun Kids Summer Camp last week. This didn't stop all of our participants hitting the surf with enthusiasm, determination and plenty of smiles!
From first-timers standing up on their boards to more experienced surfers practicing their technique & learning the next steps, it was brilliant to see their progress & confidence in the water growing each day. We spent time perfecting our surfing skills, from popping up to paddling out & even learning some party tricks along the way. We also learned about how waves are formed, the different types of waves & how to stay safe in the sea! Mixing it up we also tried out a range of beach activities over the 4 days, from surfing to bodyboarding & even bodysurfing! Everyone was happily up & riding with some impressive unbroken waves being caught throughout.
We finished off the week with a friendly competition for everyone to showcase their new and improving skills. Team Flying Fluffy Corral Ducks came out on top just beating Team Potato Banana Surfers on overall points before the participants received their certificates up at the surf shack.
Everyone did brilliantly and to recognise their achievements during our friendly comp there were some awards handed out for:
Best Wipeout: Ryan
Best Wave: Lena
Best Party Trick: Millie
A big thanks also to our team for the camp, Keir, Adam M, and EJ for keeping the vibes good and energy high throughout!
